French press coffee is perfect for extracting the full flavour of your coffee bean and will give you the tastiest coffee! Here are the steps you need to make delicious French pressed coffee in an 8 cup/1 litre French press:
Grind about 8-10 Tablespoons of coffee for the 8-cup French press. The ground coffee should be about as coarse as breadcrumbs. Coarse coffee works best in a French Press. Preheat the glass and plunger by pouring hot water inside the pitcher and plunge. Discard the rinse water.
Add your ground coffee to a clean French Press, with the filter press removed.
Next, pour hot water (30 seconds off the boil or about 205 degrees F) into the French press, saturating all of your grounds, and pouring to the halfway mark. Start your timer for 4 minutes. The Coffee grounds will “bloom” in the water now.
After 1 minute, stir the “bloom” (or top layer) and pour the rest of the water evenly to the top and affix the press pot lid.
After the 4 minute timer goes off, plunge and serve immediately.
